7 Ways to Accomplish a Delightful Sustainable Lifestyle
- Practice minimalism
Living without anything? No. That’s not minimalism. It simply means that you are putting everything you own and use to its maximum purpose.
Minimalism is being mindful of the items you own, recycling more, and emphasizing sustainability through your daily habits.
2. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
We have been reading this term since our school days. Reduce your habit of conspicuous buying. Reuse and recycle all your possessions to minimize waste. Recycle old glass bottles or aluminium cans. Keep a recycle bin at your home and try making more trips to the recycling station than to the landfill.
3. Choose renewable energy
What you can do to stop climate change? A choice. A choice to decrease your dependence on fossil fuels. In coming years, products using renewable energy resources or sustainable options to current fossil fuels-based products are going to be very affordable.
We all can do our part in making things happen in the right direction.
4. Ditch the plastic
Plastics can take anywhere from 20 to 500 years to decompose. Plastic can be found swirling on the ocean’s surfaces. It badly affects human as well as marine life.
It is high time for us to ditch plastic bags and switch to reusable bags in our daily lives.
5. Practice disconnecting yourself
Well, everybody knows that this is easier said than done. With a little bit of effort and patience, you may want to try this habit. This TED Talk would help you as well. This would help you to regularize your sleep cycle, take more and more natural light (obviously you will step out of the house if you restrict smartphone use. Try it if you don’t believe me ;p), and improved mental stability.
6. Make your own
Nowadays Do It Yourself (DIY) is pretty popular on the internet. You may find a lot of channels/accounts on YouTube or even on Instagram. Make use of those. You can repair so many things at home with simple tools. Also, non-toxic homemade cleaning products, personal care products, and other utility products can easily be made at home.
7. Your Food
Looking at the work culture today, it is much easier to opt for processed/readily available food. Well let me tell you this, it is not making you any productive. On the contrary, you are just deteriorating your health as well as producing non-decomposing waste (packaging material, food processing waste). Always choose simple, whole, homemade, or less processed food.
