Hello folks, how are you doing? I know the current situation is quite bad out there. But you know what this is a test of humanity. We’re all in this together. We can beat this pandemic. Many medical researchers have concludes that the transmission of the new COVID-19 is breathtakingly easy. It is not an airborne virus, but according to some medical experts, it can survive on surfaces for up to 12 hours. It may also sustain for up to 2-3 days on plastic and stainless steel.

On the other hand, the efforts of the Indian government under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, and also of various state governments have been applauded widely. Henk Bekedam, the WHO Representative to India, was quoted as saying that “the commitment of the Indian government from the top level has been enormous, and very impressive”.

At the time when we are all doing our part of keeping our neighborhood safe, let’s get some time to get out of that zone and do something else. I am enlisting 5 things to do while under Quarantine. This is not an exhaustive list, but some key areas where we can focus on what we used to neglect earlier.

  1. Read a Book
  2. Learn a new skill or update yourself
  3. Get Organized
  4. Cook
  5. Phone a friend

1 Read Book

“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads lives only one.” – George R.R. Martin

Can you think of a book which you thought you would read when ‘you will have time’? Well, you have ample of time now. I know, before this lock-down phase, we were living a very busy life. But, this is the opportunity. Do not let it pass away. Start reading now, you never know, you may end up carrying this habit in the long run.

2 Learn a new skill / Upgrade yourself

“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” – Albert Einstein

Learning is something which will never go in veins, nobody can take it away from you. The more and more skills you acquire, the better opportunities you will receive in your life. There are so many timeless skills that you can learn which will change your life in a positive way. Some of the skills that you can learn at this time are: how to read faster, learning to learn, photography, principles of public speaking, mindfulness, etc.

3 Get Organized

“For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.”– Anonymous

Do you think “cleaning can be fun”? Let me know in the comments section below. Quarantine or not there are still so many benefits of keeping our surroundings clean and organized. Whether you are working on a side hustle or just sitting around chilling, a clean desk will make you feel better about yourself. Also, you can let your creative side flourish and take this opportunity to make some renewed and fresh executive decisions for your living space.

4 Cook

“Cooking is an expression that crosses boundaries” -Ranveer Brar

Is cooking like meditation? For me, yes. If you really love the process and get really involved, I am sure you will feel the same. Make a great YouTube recipe a reality and create a meal to be proud of. It’s a good idea to stock up on pasta, rice, some veggies, and spices so that more recipes (with your own twist) are within reach.

5 Phone a friend

“Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, ‘What! You too? I thought I was the only one.” – C.S. Lewis

Who’s to say you can’t have a night like you are back in 10th grade procrastinating your homework with your buddies? I’d recommend you call, text, FaceTime, or Whatsapp someone you haven’t spoken in a while.

There’s nothing wrong with having fun to get through a challenging time.
